I just tried logging to the syslog unix domain socket, but it doesn't work:

[ALERT] 023/103837 (1808) : sendto logger #0 failed: Protocol wrong
type for socket (errno=91)
[ALERT] 023/103837 (1808) : sendto logger #0 failed: Protocol wrong
type for socket (errno=91)

Here is the configuration snippet:

global

    log /dev/log local0

defaults

    log global

Am I doing something wrong?
